I own two Bushmaster Patrolman's carbines and have had excellent luck with them. The only thing I've ever done to them was stake the gas keys and upgrade the extractor springs. Both of mine were purchased used, so I upgraded the springs just to be on the safe side while doing some scheduled maintenance.
Both carbines run like sewing machines and I have zero complaints Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I own two bushmasters, 1000s of rounds through them, no problems... For a plain Jane bushmaster you can get one for around 1000 bucks, give or take, At a local "big box" store there running a sale this week... 999$ with 200 rounds...I'm thinking my two bushmaster, may grow into three this week |

I've used some Bushmaster stuff in builds and been happy with it. But i helped change a guys A2 upper to a flat top not long ago on a new bushy he bought at academy the BRL nut wasn't finger tight watched it move when i was pulling the gas tube. Spun it off with one finger granted the rifle functioned fine for the owner for a little over 1k rnds and while their wasn't any damage that i could see nor do i know if it would have ever been a problem. It didn't instill a lot of confidence in the build quality they are turning out. |

Many people talk down Bushmasters, you can buy a slightly better rifle for less cost. I own 2 BM rifles that run like they are supposed to, zero problems. I pulled the BCG s out and staked the gas key a little better, but they were really just fine before. I also staked the stock nut on the Patrolmans Cabine just for a little added insurance. Overall, I have never had a single problem with any of my Bushmasters through a lot of rounds downrange.
Bushmaster makes a LOT of rifles, and have had QC slip-ups at times, so they definitely had their share of problems/failures through their history. Since I have never had a failure with mine, I trust them almost as much as my others. For the money spent for a Bushmaster nowadays, a person could acquire a more mil-spec rifle that might/maybe outlast a Bushmaster and have some features that most now want on their rifles. I have spent hours talking with Bushmaster bigwigs explaining small changes that would make their rifles better for very little, if any cost. They are content doing things "their way", so I went BCM, Colt, Spikes way instead. That Bushmaster rifle you have should do you just fine, it is good enough as Bushmaster says it...

I have nothing but good to say about Bushmaster & the service is good I had 2 Carbine 14.7hbar Rifle 20 hbar Both ran 100% and accurate And yes I run a LMT M4 defender 2000 14.5 M4 and a spare to boot. Bushmaster was KING OF AR15.COM until guys were able to buy COLT 6920 or the BAN LIFT Its Funny but you will see after awhile the TRENDS / Bashing that goes on here |

I own one pristine retro-Colt for my wife to shoot and one Bushmaster. One for sentimental reasons and the other for when SHTF. I wouldn't trade either. The Bushmaster XM15ES m4 I one is one bad mama jamma. No problems here. What business dealings I've had with Bushmaster on extra goodies have all been excellent ! I shopped around a lot. The Bushmaster definately was the best bang for my buck. |
| I wouldnt pay anymore than $800 if your gonna go $1000 you can get better quality and more standard features than what Bushmaster offers for the same money. My issues with them is they batch MP test parts and no HP testing,Plastic trigger guards,no M4 handguards, dont offer mil-spec lower extension size..but my biggest issue is they dont individualy MP inspect barrels even though they are marked as such and they dont highpressure or proof load test, they dont offer FA carriers even though its legal..in my opinion the rifles I got 18 years ago were better and more carefuly built and customer service way better until cerebus holdings bought them out. |

My first AR and gun was a Bushmaster 16" carbine. I changed the bbl to a Colt 20" 1/7 twist and put an A2 stock on it. Without adjusting the sights, I was a hitting a ~1 square foot steel plate at around 150 yards. It was an A2 upper. I enjoy shooting that gun sometimes more than my M4 clone. I've put that 20" upper on a lower with a UBR and it's an awesome combo! |

I have one I bought in 99. Head space was off after a few thousand rounds but still passed field. I replaced the BCG. Front FSB was a little off. I had to adjust the windage nearly all the way to the left.
The rifle always ran fine with one exception. I tried a one piece gas ring. Only time I had malfunctions. I replaced it with a 3 piece. Dave |
| I've seen a lot of Bushy hate on this site, so it's good to see a thread like this. I love my Bushy (ORC) and never had a malf in over 3K rds with just about every different brand of ammo out there. Also no probs with mags in it either... BM, C-products, Pmags, USGI, etc.... all work great. |

Dave Same thing here with the FSB and windage, but it ran great otherwise. I still have the lower mated with an RRA middy upper. |

I wouldn't argue with any of the comments made in this post, it's all correct. That said, I find it interesting that the plastic trigger guard is a point of contention as today a plastic guard seems to be all the rage. I'm sure it's happened but I don't know anyone that has broken one of BM's plastic trigger guards in all the years I've been shooting. People hate these trigger guards but love the new plastic ones. Yeah, I know the new ones are much more sturdy but I still find that kind of funny. BushMaster has done something right over the years as they are one of the top two manufacturers by volume of civillian AR's (depending on the source). They've somehow managed to find the sweet spot, a rifle that meets their customers needs at a price they are willing to pay. Mine has never given me a hint of a problem in all the time I've owned it (approx. 20 years), probably no credit to BM here. Is it the best rifle I own? Heck no. At one time it was run fairly hard and successfully made it through 2 carbine courses without a hiccup. That said, my friend bought one the same day I did (consecutive serial number) and it's the only AR I've ever personally witnessed break a gas key screw. I put a full chrome BCG in mine early on and it has been modified a piece at a time over the years as my needs for that rifle have changed. The BCG change in and of itself may be the reason I've never had a problem with it (many of the issues I read about are related to the BCG). It's ended up with a 20" barrel and a decent scope on it. It is now more specialized than it once was and it isn't used as often. I pick up a different rifle about 80% of the time I go shooting these days, not because I don't trust this rifle but due to the type of shooting I do. I trust the remaining BushMaster parts as much as I do any of my tier one rifles. One thing of which I'm reasonably sure is that every time I squeeze the trigger it will go bang. |

I have owned a few factory built bushmasters, and have used a few LPKs, barrels and BCGs in builds. All have been fine, years ago there barrels were the best deal IMO out there. For less than two hundred dollars you got everything forward of the upper reciever. I think they have went up some, still a good barrel.
Buy with confidence. |

Ive owned a few over the past few years and had good luck with them.
my only real complaint is the gas key staking I just cant understand why a company cant take a few extra minutes and do the job right Also: I would also prefer M4 dual heatchield handguards on a factory rifle instead of the cheap car handguards |
