I have a 16" barrel with a Car length gas system, I've heard that the ST-T2 buffers are really good, but will a standard buffer work just as good?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, or if its a dupe

My LMT 14.5 runs perfect with the standard carbine buffer. Ejects empty cases at 3-4 o'clock. I see no reason to change it out.

The buffer weight you use depends on many things.
What works in one, may not work in another.
Some variables are gas port diameter, gas system length, bolt carrier weight/style, buffer spring.
The ammo you are shooting plays a big role.
The carbine buffer will work in all being it is the lightest, if it doesn't work, you've got problems.

I have an Stt2 in a one of my carbines. standard in another and  H2 as well, the stt2 is  very reliable and does take out some of the felt recoil.  Not a whole bunch.  I also have an enidine and woud never watse my money on one again.  very unreliable they claim  its the ammo. I was definately getting back on target quicker with the sttt2 than the enidine,  I was shooting rem 223 boattail not the cheap stuff and hornandy 5.56 practice ammo out of the gun with the enidine. Never once locked back after last round.  My buddy used it with carbine and 5.56 ammo not hornandy practice and said it was hit or miss on locking bolt back on last round on his gun.  I'll have to take the enidine out and shoot some of my win 5.56 out and see what happens.  I definately thought the enidine would be better than the oly hydralic I had in a rifle but no comaprison.  there was a hughe difference and never a malfunction in mine or three other buddies regardless of ammo who switched to the oly just to get rid of the stupid ping sound. bonus getting back on target was greatly improved. but were alre also talking rifle length gas sytem.  My next build will be getting a stt2 for it as well.  Spikes makes a great product at a good price and stands behind their stuff.  Not the its ur ammo bs. It would be nice If  I could always shoot the good stuff but  I cant justify using my high end 5.56 it on a regular basis considering what it would cost to replace. Last time I bought winchester q1313a I paid 3.33 a box and we emptied the store 4 times.   I think I heard Spikes say something like 50,000 units sold a while back on their stt2 buffers I dont know thats its really necessary but I will take every advantage I can get considering my life may depend on my shots.
