I just got an amazing deal on an M5 for my AForgery.  The rail took almost no effort (except for the delta ring, of course) to install.  There's a tiny bit of play in the bottom rail, but I've read threads here about how to address that.  My question is mainly about the threaded holes in the rails.  What size and pitch are these holes?  Aside from mounting a bipod, what are they used for?  One use I have for the front holes on the bottom is for a bipod, so I'm also interested in what bipods go with an A4, and in particular what bipods are issued/available for use on the M16A4 (i.e. what bipod/bipods is/are "correct" for the A4?)

Any help will be appreciated.

Make sure the front silver metal clip is under the triangle cap.
If not the rail will install and lock in but the lower rail will be loose.

A4 did not use Bipods only the KAC forward grip.
I have not seen any pics of one being used in a bipod prone set up.
The rail is not free float and the rifle is not the DMR / SPR / Sniper style.

The a4 is not issued with Bipods the Army's DMR rifle is -atleast according to photos I have seen- but that uses a free float rail.  The DMR bipods appears to be on a rail mounted bipod stud..  I don't know about the threads in the little holes.

A4s a currently issued with Gripods 01s witht he steel inserts not the le version without steel inserts.

How do you address the wobble int he bottom rail?

Got it-the clip at the front isn't UNDER anything.  Yet.

The only bipod I've seen used was on an m4 (not m16a4) for a squad leader of the weapons squad and it was a harris-

Otherwise plenty of grip pods in use as of late-

You fix that and the lower rail will be tight like it should be.

That did it just fine.  It's nice and tight-no rattle at all, except one of the rail covers is a little less than solid.  Thanks on this.

Check the EE for the Gripods. Make sure you get the real deal cuz there are a lot of fakes running around, especially on Ebay. There is a seller named NCAR15 or something close to this. He was selling genuine Gripods for $65 or so. I bought two from him and they are the real deal. Very solid and perfect height for my needs. No swivel though, you will have to go to Harris for a good swivel bipod.

Or look in the A4 thread.

Well sure...that would be the easy way....

I didn't actually think of this as an A4 issue before, more of a KAC M5 rail issue.  Thanks for the boot to the head-I think you kick-started my brain!

Bump for two of my original questions: what is the thread of those holes in the M5 rail, and what are they for?  So far I found that KAC makes a special Harris bipod mount for the M4/M5 that seems to screw into the hole at the bottom front, but I can't find anything else, particularly what the size and thread of those holes is.
