Is it a 8-40 thread? I know it is not a 8-32 or 10- 32.

I just happened to have one right in front of me. 
With my pitch gauge, I came up with 36 TPI. That is for sure. And eyeballing it up with a standard machine screw, and measuring the major diameter of the threads with my dial calipers (.159") it appears to be the same size as a number 8. So my educated guess would be 8x36. |
