Umm do you have the front just wrapped around the barrel? I don't think that's gonna work very well...it's gonna melt after a few mag dumps, and it may fall off at the worst time. You need to consider getting some type of sling mount.

Man really loose the attitude. He was trying to help.

Nice sling.

Get a front strap for it and enjoy. Nice rifle BTW.

its a start in the right direction, but personally I'm not fond of 3 point slings in general since they can get in the way on occassion. I would also reccomend getting a proper sling mount and a set of irons

I have a SpecOps Mamba, and if the sling attaches below the barrel, it causes the rifle the torque to the side when the rifles not being handled. I ended up getting a MI Rail Sling adapter so I could hang the sling off to the side, and it solved my problem. But it looks like you don't have a rail system on the rifle, so you may want to figure out a way to get a swivel mount onto that handguard on the side.

my unit in Iraq was issued these too in 2004-5. the 3 point has fallen out of favor since the tension band next to the reciever blocks the bolt catch a little and if used for a left hander can block the ejection port. A simple 2 point is a better choice- larry vickers sling discussion at his website is a good read- yes I know part of his business is to sell slings but his comments make a lot of sense. I use old scrap nylon straps for my 2 points- in fact a number of older broken mambas and sling 101's which we used in Afghanistan were rescued from the trash can and work just fine.

My quick thoughts.
1) 3 pt slings don't work for me, I use 2 pt quick adjust, single pt, or standard GI type.
2) No sights????
3) your sling is going to melt to the barrel, or worse come off and cause your to drop your firearm

Personally, for a first sling, get a piece of 1.5" webbing and a couple of tri-glides or a simple GI sling.  I would work on some sights and learn to shoot this thing well then work on the supply of mags and ammo before getting all HSLD.

Slings are like holsters, you will probably got through a bunch before you find what works for you.  The difference is slings are less $$$ wasted and you can reuse the webbing for something else.

My 2 cents, YMMV

It looks like it's just tied in knots around the barrel and stock of the rifle... i personally wouldnt trust that if the shtf. i would see what other mounting options there are that would be more stable/durable.

and it doesnt matter what sling you have on there... without sights... it's not going to work properly.

attitude = no no.

I never liked the mambas either.  The blackhawk version is so much better IMO but that is what I like.  I am fixing to try the magpul kool-aid on the sling and plate setup they have.

I had a single point on most of my firearms, including my 308 AR. I was brought up using a leather shooting sling, so that is what I was used to.  I bought a 3 point and didn't really like it but my son loved it so I gave it to him for his. The last rifle I just built, I put the Magpul asap end plate on to mount a single point. I put the single point on it and I just can not get used to it. I don't like the way it bounces around. Now I like the 3 point better, and I'm selling the single to a friend because he likes it. I guess the moral to the story is, there is no moral to the story.
