OK, so I have around $700 to finish my build. I have a complete CMMG lower with a Stag LPK and a Magpul CRT Stock.
I'm looking to punch paper, hunt coyote and other varmints with it. A middle of the road AR. Doesn't have to be a bull barrel. I live in Michigan, maximum range 200-300 yards. What should I get, I am overwhelmed with options... Chet |

you can get a RRA upper for about $600. comes with the bolt and carrier. no rear sight though, unless you get an A2 type upper. FWIW, i have about $750 in my LMT upper. $465 for upper $135 for "texas spec" bolt and carrier $95 for carry handle rear sight $50 for troy flash hider i was really pleased with both of my RRA varmint uppers. they were both capable of sub MOA with good ammo. but neither would be something that i would want to carry around in the field. if i was in your shoes, i would be looking at RRA. check out PKFirearms, they are a site sponsor and they carry a lot of RRA uppers. (great prices and fast shipping!) |

No signs needed, It should be an easy choice ($475) ($490 shipped)
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=124&t=483834 Use "MIDLEUP" code for mid length upper. http://www.spikestactical.com/z/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=63_64&products_id=392 |

I'd vote for the BCM, but it will exceed your budget once you add BCG and CH. On the other hand, it won't be by much if you choose carefully and that will include some nice rails.
The Spikes is nice from what I hear, but I haven't seen one myself, the price is certainly outstanding. You can always add rails later, a set of Omega's would even let you do it without any real hassle. Or just leave it stock, nothing you described requires rails unless you want them. |

I got the Spikes. This might make it easier, for the difference between the BCM and the Spike's upper, Spike's will toss in a Magpul rear BUIS and a BCM gunfighter charging handle.
I already had the BUIS, so they upgraded the BCG to their Nickel Boron unit, total cost to upgrade the BCG and get the BCM charging handle was $100, or the difference between buying the plain jane Spike's and buying the BCM. I think I made a good choice. |
