I was wondering if anyone had first hand experiance with Mega Machine Shop lowers? specificly "MEGA Forged Lower". I am considering buying one marked pistol, for a build. I like the fact they are locally made and I can save ffl transfer fee's. Plus I like to support local economy when I can.
If you don't like them and live in washington do you have any other locally produced suggestions? Thanks guys! |
| I went with MEGA for my stripped lowers and had very high hopes because I had heard many good things. The finish is very cool, a dark black instead of that AR gray color. I was disappointed to find that the two stage RRA trigger did not fit in the MEGA lower. We must be talking hundredths or thousandths of an inch here. The regular GI trigger dropped in just fine but the two stage was a no go. I didn't begin the builds until sometime after I received the lower so I wasn't about to start going back to the dealer in WA state or MEGA to begin what most certainly would have been an arduous, drawn-out process costly to parties on both ends. I just accepted it and was done with it. I have another stripped lower which has not been built yet. Perhaps, the trigger will work in it... I was not about to begin modifying my trigger or selector bar to get it to fit in the first receiver since the issue was that with the selector installed, the trigger would not drop. Perhaps, the trigger was itself out of spec. I can recommend MEGA, but as with any custom build there are a variety of factors which can affect parts compatibility. |

Had the same thing happen on a Bushmaster lower with a RRA NM 2 stage... I changed the safety and now it works fine. & I love my Mega... - Clint |

I have two Gator Grip Mega's that I bought stripped and inserted the parts myself. They are excellent, especially the size of the mag well. I have several non-colt lowers and some of them have issues with certain magazines, so I always used my Colt Competition HBAR as the "gold standard" for magazine fitting, now I use the Mega. The only issue I had in the builds was that I had to “ream out” the safety selection detent pin hole (the one with the spring that goes into the pistol grip) to get the pin to “float” properly. It may have been the pin from the Model 1 lower kit rather than the Mega. The folks at the shop are cool too, I ordered two lowers and they gave me consecutive serial numbers. |

So does any one know if they sell directly to the public? Can I walk in and buy a couple lowers directly. Or do I have to find a reseller. Thanks They do not sell retail only wholesale to dealers. That's directly from a nice lady on the phone at Mega who took the time to talk to me. Find your favorite dealer that sells them and place your order. |

| A month ago or so I went to build on one lower I bought a couple years ago and found the magwell was stupid tight. Contacted them and they fixed it no issues at all. Just got it back today. I was expecting flak from them and a 1000 questions but got none of it. Very professional outfit, and very nice lower. |
