I bought my AR from a friend because he had put a left handed upper on it. It has a DPMS lower.  My question is how is the quality with DPMS would i gain any thing by replacing the lower with a different brand.  I was thinking of replacing it with a Stag lower just so I can say i have a Stag Arms AR

Never been a fan of DPMS anything, however, it's not very hard to make a good lower. So long as this lower was built with decent parts, you should be just fine.

There is nothing wrong with DPMS. I  have a few and most of my friends do as well. It is a " lower" as well. Almost nothing wrong with any lowers out there. I don't think you will gain anything by going with Stag other than having a complete Stag Rifle. You will always be able to sell the DPMS lower. The choice is yours, but don't just attempt to get rid of it because you think it is junk.

The lower itself should be fine.  Instead of replacing the whole thing, I'd just upgrade the trigger components and keep the DPMS parts as spares.

I agree, I changed out my stock DPMS trigger for a Rock river Arms two stage. Then you can let your groups prove that you have a good rifle.

No complaints at all with my DPMS lower.

I have a rifle with a DPMS lower.
I'm gong to replace that lower with a Stag complete lower that I just happen to have laying around.
This is solely because the Stag has a better trigger.

I have a dpms lower that between a few uppers has performed flawlessly. Its a lower, kind of hard to mess it up besides making it out of spec.

DPMS lowers are fine. You will not see a major problem.
Only thing you may see is Pmags may not drop free. However several lowers are this way from several manufacturers.

no problems after 4 rifles matches and 7,000.

Only thing you will gain is a lighter wallet.

DPMS is gtg...atleast lower wise. LAR makes their lowers.

This... Even the FP retaining clips aren't spec. Lower is probably OK, but you couldn't give me any of their parts.

I have two DPMS lowers on rifles I have put together. Both are fine. Never a problem with function or when fitting and swapping uppers.

I have some DPMS lowers built up with name brand high quality components. The DPMS lowers are fine, unfortunately others may judge the quality of the rifle by the roll mark on the lower.

I have a DPMS lower. Fits really nice with the DPMS upper that's on it. ZERO problems.
