is there any issue with cutting a buffer spring? I have a rifle length spring that I need to put in a carbine length tube. So far from searching I have found that some carbine springs are 11" and some 10.5". Thanks for any input

I just buy the proper spring.

4 dollar spring. shipping will cost more than the spring and I've had this one sitting around for a year.

When that is the case I usually add some more small stuff to the order like bore brushes, other small springs, etc.

Yep. I was actually about to do the same thing at Bravo Company. I just wanted an extractor spring and new buffer spring (mine both have probably 7000+ rounds on them) to swap out just to keep my rifle running reliably (not that it's been having problems). Springs together were $10 or so... shipping $8.
So I started adding things like a new firing pin, phantom flash suppressor and BAD lever but they were out of the phantom and bad levers. So I'll just wait till they get them in now.

Your not going to get the result your looking for by cutting coils.

This is what I was looking for. It's not that buying it is a pain in the ass, I just figured why not cut one I have. Well off to EE to sell H buffer and spring

If I knew for a fact that the spring when cut would offer the same rate as an OEM I would definitely try this. However, since I have no way of confirming that this would work I would just spend a few bucks and get one that I knew was right. It's no secret in saying that even though two springs end up the same length they may not have the same dampening effect. It's not worth saving a couple bucks.
