I am interested in "SBR"ing my AR. It is entirely too long. Pic is included. Can you guys recommend the best route. Should I buy a new upper or can I just get a new barrel? I have a QD suppressor so I can just add my extra QD mount to either a new upper or barrel. Also what length is best to use with a suppressor? I would really like the shortest barrel that would function with my current upper. Thanks in advance.

You can get a completely new upper which would let you choose if you want the 16" or the SBR, and have the functionality of both. You CAN get another barrel, but going that route, it may be cheaper to have your upper sent off to a company, like ADCO, and have them cut it down, crowned and threaded. Doing that, you will have no choice between the lengths. If money were no object, I would get both, but if you are absolutely positive you won't go back to a 16" rifle, have it cut down.

Nice rifle.  If you have the money, just build another upper.  That way you have a sbr and lbr

The way it works is you get your stamp, then get a new sbr upper.  Then you realize how little it will cost to build a lower for your old upper.  Now you have two rifles.  Then you realize that you want a 18" spr... vicious cycle ensues, which means that you will eventually need to purchase expensive jewelry for the wife to get her to go along with your addiction.  Horrible...

edit:  My recommendation on length is to get a 11.5".  It is pretty much guaranteed to run out of the box, and is a little easier on your suppressor than a 10.5".

yeah im assuming you know the Class III process since you own a suppressor.  Get the stamp first

Yeah the cycle is rough.  I built this AR because I had an extra lower receiver laying around.  The wife asked me how many hand guns I own the other day.  I said I honestly don't know.  They all look the same to her.  I am assuming the amount of gsr coming back at me will be worse with a shorty but this thing is a beast to carry around and I do not like to carry my other AR because it feels like a toy gun.  I like the idea of a 11.5.

This is pretty what I'm going through right now.

And I agree with the 11.5" barrel.

Get the BCM hammer Forged barrel and us the existing upper and rail if you don't decide to buy a complete upper..

Something else to think about.... with that suppressor you might get more gas in the face with a SBR barrel.  I ended up running a AA piston system with my SBR and suppressor just to make it pleasurable to shoot.

BTW, I went with a BCM 11.5" barrel on my SBR.  The old 16" barrel magically grew into another AR.

I just got my SBR stamp. Converted my Colt 6920 upper to 11.5" using a Sabre Defence barrel,Osprey piston kit with a lo-pro gas block and covered it all with a midlength FF tube. I have a supressor on order but it has'nt shown up yet therefore I still have'nt even sent in my paperwork for that item.

Thanks for the gas piston tip.  If possible send me a pic of your set up.  I found the gas piston system, it looks fairly easy to install.  Where do you recommend getting the barrel from?  Thanks.
