Anyone know if theres a list of the color variations between different AR manufacturers?

I am doing a build, am looking for a lower and my upper is pretty much black. Though I know many ARs have more of a dark gray tone.

I'm pretty much looking at either getting an LMT or Noveske lower. Any comments on either of these color wise?

Thanks guys

Most uppers and lowers are now black and have been for some time. The early Colt receivers were made gray to resemble Parkerizing which was the finish on the previous steel military guns.

There are color variations within the SAME manufacturer. I wouldn't worry about it too much and if it really bothers you you'll probably have to buy in a shop to compare.

By 'black' I didn't mean all the same exact black. It ranges from dark charcoal to flat black to semi-gloss. Just thought I better clarify. Generally if both receivers are in the same ballpark you're GTG. Chances of an exact match are slim, but it really doesn't matter. The only combo that would look bad would be the old gray to the new black, and for a military weapon even that doesn't really matter.I made a combo back in '95 that bugged me - a grayish Bushmaster lower with a black upper. I had two complete guns, so I swapped uppers and matched them up. Here lately, I put together a middie carbine with a CMMG upper and an Aero lower - a great match in fit and finish, purely by luck. But, maybe not, since as I said most receivers are now basically black.
