I recently purchased a Stag/CMT LPK that I am using for my current AR build. I took the spring off the hammer and in the process I rounded off a corner of the sear engagement surface on the hammer (where it contacts the trigger). I called Stag and explained to them what happened and they told me it wouldn't cause an issue (I am kinda wondering if they just blew me off). My concern is that this may cause the rifle to accidentally discharge or increase the chances of that happening.

I carry an AR with me every time I go hiking in the woods, which is pretty frequent in the summer. I always carry it cocked with a loaded chamber and the safety on. Because the AR trigger system does not have much sear engagement surface to begin with, I am worried that what I did to the hammer might cause a accidental discharge in the hiking scenario I described above. What do you guys think?

I tend to agree with stag. so long as you are just talking about the very corner and ther is no bur that stick up or anything.  If you are truly concerned about it buy a new hammer.  they're not expensive by themselves and there are many places out there that sell them.  Hell...upgrade to a JP speed hammer and be done.

Yeah it is only on the corner. I think Stag wanted $20 something for the hammer shipped which is ok I guess, I might just get another LPK to finish out the free Noveske lower I'm going to be getting. Then I can pick the best hammer out of the bunch I suppose.
