I order one of the $50 uppers back in Dec. and found it to be bad as described in this tread. I contacted SI and received a prompt email reply with the following options.
1. You can wait for a newly programmed forged upper. 2. You can simply return the bad upper and we will refund your costs, plus return shipping. 3. I can replace your forged upper with a Gen II or standard billet upper for $50 (we will still cover all shipping costs.) With any of these options we would like to offer to get you in on the deal we had in December for a forged lower for $50. I decided on #3 the Gen II and received it today. It looks good and my CH/BCG fit. They refunded my original and return shipping and shipped NC. So for $100, I have a $210 upper. I’m going to use it for my pistol build.
