Well, after a lot of deliberation and an unexpected expense, I did a 180 on the EBR I ended up purchasing. You can read the BS here if you like: Clicky
So, since my budget got cut basically in half, I ended up taking a chance on a CMMG BB Rifle length AR (18" barrel). Since this is my first, I figured I'd buy it, shoot the hell out of it and customize it or start a list of things I would do for my next rifle (a custom build - hopefully). So, here are the obligatory terrible pics. I will take some tomorrow when there is more light and so I can show the tips of my socked feet. :) http://www.juddemerson.com/AR15/left_side.jpg http://www.juddemerson.com/AR15/right_side2.jpg The only blem I've found so far is shown in this pic. I'm going to buy a pen and cover up the minor issues. http://www.juddemerson.com/AR15/blemish2.jpg As you can see, I've already added a Troy Battle Sight BUIS. My other plans are to replace the stock with an A1, add floating handguard (not sure which one yet) and replace the FSB with a folding FSB. Then, I'll add a Vortex 4-12x40. Oh, and I'm going to replace the handgrip. I have XXL hands so I want a bigger grip. I hope to put a few rounds through it tomorrow. I'll report back on any thing extraordinary (good or bad). Anyway, I'm finally an EBR owner. (giggity) Edit: Added the comment about the scope. Oopsy. |

One is better than none..Congrats.. Yep. Here's my future build: A lower of some sort (not sure) Upper: BCM middy (BCM BCG), free float, and whatever else. :) Sounds great..I actually read your first thread you linked in the OP..You stated that you were certain that you didn't want a fixed FSP and I totally understand when money is tight you have to settle for what you can afford..You can always get a low profile gas block and add a free float rail to your existing rifle to get you buy for now. That way, you can buy the scope you want and practice shooting with the rifle you currently own. Also, when you do decide to get your next AR, there may be things you may want different in that one versus the one you currently own. My very first AR went through quite a few changes and I did recoup some of the money spent by selling the things I decided to change. Just some advice from someone who has probably did some unnecessary spending before I stumbled onto this site..Have fun, stay safe, and good shooting... |

I couldn't have explained it better myself. :) Hell, I may keep the CMMG Lower and just put my ideal upper on it. Who knows? But yes, I plan to shoot the hell out of it. Cheers, everyone. |

i've been looking at getting a noveske 16" midlength upper, free lower, and lower build kit from palmetto state but these bargain bin rifles keep calling my name... I'm not far from CMMG's store in Columbia and can't seem to get the thought of dropping by and picking up one of these bargain bins and pimping it out |
