I have a Noveske 14.5" Afghan Barrel with a Daniel Defense M4 12.0 Rail running over the top. I am trying to figure out what flash suppressor/hider to install and permanently attach to make it legal. I like the standard A2 flash hider configuration but don’t know if I eventually want to do all the paperwork and get a can in the future. Here are a few choices I have been looking at or maybe someone could suggest something else? DENNY'S Guns Extended A2 Flash Hider http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x192/USGILT/DennysGuns.jpg VORTEX Flash Hider http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x192/USGILT/Vortex.jpg VLTOR Model # VC-1 or Model # VC-A2 http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x192/USGILT/Vltormodel1.jpg http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x192/USGILT/VoltrModel2.jpg AAC Blackout Flash Hider http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x192/USGILT/AACBlackout.jpg Thanks, I'm not familiar with NY state laws but aren't you in a ban state? Can you have a FH in NY on a non-preban? Can you own a can? Just curious. I would go with the AAC Blackout (suppressor model) if it were my carbine this way you can buy a M41K or 2K in the future. |

I disagree with the above posters. I think a YHM Phantom 5c2 is the best. It offers within a % or 2 the same flash suppression and has no slits in the bottom so when you fire from the prone it doesnt blow dust and shit all around thus giving away your position. Just my opinion.
I am not a navy seal operator or space shuttle door gunner, however I do have combat experience with the USMC and prone is where you want to be and creating a big signature when you fire at the bad guys is not want you want to happen. Jim |

Jim Ever fire an M82 from the prone in dry/dusty/sandy/rocky conditions much? |
| While I'm no professional, I'd think you wouldn't want one that's NOT open-ended. The Original M-16 A1 Colt 601 had a flash hider that was open ended and they switched the design to a "birdcage" design because the previous open-ended design was getting caught in brush, etc. during the early years of the Vietnam conflict. Just something to consider for whatever your rifle's purpose. |

I dont get all the love for the Vortex, there are other FH out there that do a similar job but are closed and like another person said, doesnt blow tons of stuff up shooting prone. If you ever use it in a course or real life, thats a good possibility. It also keeps your field of vision clearer. I vote Phantom 5C1 or PWS FSC556 |
