Hello all, after the advice given here on the midlength uppers; I finally ordered one. Now to determine what rails to use. I was hoping to see some with a 9" rails with the standard sight tower and also some with extended rails (10"-12") and flip up front sight. FWIW this gun will be sporting an AAC can and I want to see which rails will look the best.

Check out the AR pic threads link at the top of the AR page.... there is a thread dedicated to midlength pics. Tons of eye candy with every configuration available.

Good luck, I think midlength is the way to go.

There are tons of way to explain that but in short...in a precision shooting stick, they can make quite a difference.  In a short range, defensive gun a handguard won't make you miss the bad guy.

One piece FF rails are usually installed which requires the barrel to be removed and then replaced during rail installation, drop in type rails don't need the barrel to be removed, easier installation.

In the picture it's an Aimpoint H1 in a LaRue mount with Magpul MBUS front and rear flip-ups.  This is just temporary as the Aimpoint is for a SBR build in the works, I'm hoping to put an ACOG on this upper in the next few weeks.
