I read the article about carbine vs mid length on 16" barrel. I see how mid length wouls reduce wear my newbe question is: if you have a carbine length gas system on a 16" barrel and want to go to a mid length do you change the barrel or un-pin and move the front sight abd re-pin it?

New barrel.

I just finished a build using the midlength system. I like how smooth the action cycles (using an H2 buffer). I don't think I'll be going back to the carbine length system any time soon.
