I just bought my first DPMS A-15 for $750.00 brand new and was wondering what upgrades I make to it like triggers and internal parts.  I already purchased a tactical scope and bipod.  I am new to the world of AR's and this my first looking for some input from others who are more versused than I am.

I bought a DPMS. Spent a lot of money of extra crap (furniture, optics, etc) when I should have put some rounds through it, first.

and what exactly about this scope is tactical?

If the A-15 model is a 16" carbine(7" handguards) with A2(fixed rear sight built into receiver) upper then I'd say you bought the wrong gun to put any kind of scope on. What do you plan on doing with the rifle.

Its not a tactical scope it is the tactical scope mount with a red dot scope.  Guess its not tactical.

Exactly !!! Go get extra mags, and as much ammo as you can. Then go shoot the shit out of it.
Have fun. Forget the tactical crap for now. 95% of the people on here (including me) have more things on their rifles than they will ever use in real life.
Look at it as a hobby. And a fun one. Shoot it. Then figure out what you want and dont want.

Exactly! I was trying to point out in my first post that most things that say "tactical" really aren't nor are the necessary or even of good quality. Stop ordering everything, besides mags (6 would be a safe min.) and ammo.

What type of shooting do you plan on doing? What is the main role for this rifle?

I will mainly be using this rifle for shooting at the range and when I pig hunt walking and in the brush.  I have 6 30rd mags with about 400rds of ammo I took it to the range sighted in the iron sights at 50 and a 100 yards.

400 rounds of ammo X 6 30rd mags = about a 30min. trip to the range... ...Steve

And training. The only thing you should "need" before you get the training is a sling. Oh and a maglula.

I have a DPMS as well and it seems to be a good, reliable rifle.  Forget the tactical stuff, or at least keep it simple.  I have a a short CAA tri rail with a flash light that fits to my factory Glacier gaurd.  Oh, and a sling.  Thats it.  Buy as much ammo and mags as you can.  Keep it simple and enjoy.
