They are worthless in even the AR's that they fit.

$2.50 for 10 cents worth of plastic that solves a non existant problem.

What's wrong with your AR?  Fit's mine fine.

I use it because my upper has a lot of rattle.  I never knew they claimed to increase accuracy.  I was just annoyed with the rattle.

+1 on what JonnyVain said.  Fits perfect in mine and eliminated the slop between my upper and lower. I too recognize that it is totally cosmetic and not performance enhancing.   I think I ordered mine through Brownells.

You are supposed to shave off a bit of rubber from the accuwedge's "seat" before trying to close the upper / lower together UNLESS you really have a sloppy Joe (my Centurion AR from about 18 years ago comes to mind).

But I don't use an accuwedge, but if you're really really annoyed with your rattle trap, that little gadget would prevent you from having a seizure

Yeah, I don't think it's the Accuwedge that's the useless tool here...

The fit on them will depend weather you have a high shelf or low shelf receiver, and you are supposed to trim them to fit.  I have one in my bushy, that had a bit of rattle in it, fix it up, and has been there since, never took it out.

I use one in a couple of my AR's.  I just like my upper/ lowers nice and tight.

I used to love selling 'em.  Wholesale I got 'em for $.31 each and sold 'em for $3.10 each ... sold lots of 'em too.

I have one in 1 of my guns. Pretty sloppy fit. Snugs it up nicely. On my others the fit isnt too bad. Not useless at all if you think you need one.
I think it works fine. If you have an unusually sloppy fit ( I do ) then they are the cats ass.

The accu wedge is made to fit everything from an M16 to high-shelf AR's.  You have to trim it.

I have been happy with the results from mine, even though the accuracy claims are bullshit.  It just makes the rifle feel more solid.

The only problem is, to fit a high-shelf AR, you have to shave off almost all the base and its impossible to cut it cleanly.

OP, looks like you have a high shelf lower that you put the wedge in.

Exactly. They don't improve accuracy, they just cut down on rattle. I'm OCD  like that. You can get them cheaper. I have a plain black one from Model 1 that didn't cost 2.50.

OP - you could trim some off the bottom so it doesn't stick up as much.  It looks like your lower's shelf is high.

That's why I love these forums, you learn somethin new every day! Well I DID trim my wedge down about 15 minutes ago, despite saying I wouldn't  I got it down to about 1/8 I bet and I still didn't have it thin enough to close it (without a vice that is).  Seems like a better solution for "High-Shelf" AR's is to use the front O-Ring trick?  What are some examples of Low'Shelf rifles? I seem to remember that my issue M4 had a deeper recess in front of the buffer area, am I correct in stating this?

ETA- I am a bit OCD (Thanks USMC) and for purely vanity/just want to know, does the front O-Ring trick clean up the rattle at all. I dont have much, nothing thats not totally normal, but again, the OCD is kickin in.

Yes the recess on the M4 is deeper (i.e. low shelf), and my CMMG lower is low shelf as well.  I need to check my LRB Arms lower, but I'm pretty sure it's low shelf also.  What brand is your lower for reference?

EDIT:  Just checked my LRB Arms and it is low shelf.  Also, here is a pic of my CMMG with the untrimmed accuwedge installed...

Am I missing something or doesn't a name like Accuwedge imply that it will improve accuracy?

I have never seen anything from them claiming it will help shoot smaller groups, I just assumed that it was implied in the name.  I bought mine knowing it would not improve accuracy, I did know it would tighten up the upper/lower slop in my mid-length.  Is it needed? NO.  Does it serve a purpose?  Yes, and at a relatively small price.

Same here. All of my uppers fit horribly on my double star lower but OK on my Mega. I have been using the #7 orings on the front lug and it works wonders. I am tired of replacing it so I may get a accuwedge soon. I will probably glue it down just to make sure it stays put.

High or Low Shelf AR Receivers. Who Makes What?

This is a list of companies showing who makes high shelf and who makes low shelf AR-15 lower receivers. This is in reference to RDIAS compatibility. RDIAS is Registered Drop In Auto Sear. A RDIAS can be found for much less than a registered M-16 or other AR-15 compatible registered select fire lower receiver. Here is a link that goes in to depth on the RDIAS- www.quarterbore.com/nfa/dias.html

Green = Low shelf: DIAS compatible, shelf behind safety on inside of the receiver is 16mm deep from top of receiver

Red = High Shelf: Not DIAS compatible, shelf behind safety on inside of receiver is 14mm deep from top of receiver

Aero Precision - high shelf /low shelf

Ameetec - low shelf

Anvil Arms - low shelf

Armalite - high shelf

Use an inexpensive o-ring on the front lug.  Works perfectly for removing the play between the receivers.  Adjust the cross-sectional size to the receiver gap you are dealing with.

Would be nice to see your pictures.

Yes takeuptheslop-wedge would have been a marketing disaster. For what it was intended for and used properly it is a neat little piece of marketing genius. Accuwedge sounds great and makes you want to check it out.

I 1st read about them when i was working in the computer controlled injection molding (CCIM)  business. They were refered to as a simple solution to a simple problem at a cheap price. If i remember correctly they cost the manufacturer about $7.00 to make 100 units, so about .07 cents each. That was the initial run cost so after you did it for a year or so your cost went down even cheaper.

For those who are OCD about rattle and play this is the answer to your prayers.

For the price there obviously shouldnt be any complaints but people cant stand them for some reason..
