Well, sorta. The rifle itself has been completed for quite some time but it is still lacking in a few details. Namely, I need a railed fore end, a sling, and perhaps a vertical foregrip. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think actual USMC A4s use the KAC M5 RAS? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, what sling and foregrip would best approximate what is on the real thing?

A4 rifles do come with standard handguards as well, but I personally like the KAC M5 set up.  Get the KAC VFG if you ant the real deal.  I think I had a spectre 3-point sling on my rifle overseas...can't remember for sure though.  Our unit bought them on the commercial market prior to deployment.

Do you have a pic of your rifle as currently configured?  I'm working on mine right now.

KAC M5 rail, KAC vert grip.

Slings are a toss up. They have issued the regular USGI 3-point sling, or more commonly found these days is the Specter Gear adjustable 3 point.

You will also find VTAC and VCAS slings in use, BDS tactical one point slings, a few Specter gear non-bungee one point slings, and the odd Wolf Hook around.

You should look at the A4 picture thread.

+1 on A4 picture thread Lancelot pointed out.  That thread has been a great reference in brainstorming what exactly I what to do with my A4 clone.  Still not sure though how I'm going to obtain an ACOG any time soon.  I think my A4 clone will be sporting a detachable carry handle for awhile.

Here's mine:

RRA Std A4 Rifle
KAC M5 RAS
KAC VFG
Trijicon TA31RCO-A4
MATECH BUIS
Spec-Ops M16 Sling (got it in Kandahar, so I think its legit...)

Oh, and here's the A4 thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=337931

Regular Sling

Or, get the cheapest crap you can find. Rarely did I ever see "quality" slings on mil rifles.

And +1 on the Knights. You can usually get the real thing (stolen) at gun shows for cheap.

Duh, I should've looked at the thread, but thanks for the help here. I had pics of the rifle, but they were lost in a HDD failure. I need to take some more pics. Basically, the rifle is just about as KISS as it can be right now, with the exception of an Eotech sight. I'd love to buy an ACOG but I just can't justify buying one right now.

I believe the Marine Corps is now issuing Grip Pods if you're trying to get it as close as possible to currently fielded kit.

Interesting. I don't think I'm familiar with Grip Pods.

So this M16A4 is a legitimate platform now being used in the military?

For sure.

Most get issued an M16a4 or M4.
I see more pics and news video of troops with M16a4 than M4's

Yeah, I did. I guess I didn't know it by name.

A forum member (thanks Stefan!) has been kind enough to sell me a Grip Pod and some other things that will nearly finish my A4 project. All I really need once this transaction is done is a a sling and perhaps a tactical light of some sort. However, the latter will be money spent later since Christmas has left my spending money mostly depleted. I'll post some pics once I have everything together.
