Has anyone ever de-Dissipatored a barrel? It would seem I could just remove the FSB and gas block then re-mount the FSB and use carbine handguards. Has anyone ever DONE this? It is my daughters rifle and she wants more of a M4 type weapon so she can have railed handguards and a SOPMOD stock.
Thanks PS I also posted this in the Bushmaster thread. |

Could it be done?
For sure, but it will cost $$ First you'll have to send the barrel off to someone like ADCO as redrilling a FSB to match existing pin locations (for the currently pinned gas block) will be tricky. You might have to buy a new FSB as the one you currently have will most likely have the pin holes drilled a bit off from the gas block. Then you'll have 2 grooves/holes in the bottom of the barrel out front where the Dissy's FSB used to be. You might want to consider spending some extra $$ and have the area foward of the new FSB turned down to Lightweight profile (.625). |
| Ah yes the pin slots. I have an old shot to hell Patrolman's barrel, I think I will just put that on for her for now with the SOPMOD stock and rail hand guards. If she wants a lighter barrel, off to the ADCO fat farm with the Dissipator barrel. Thanks all and Happy Thanksgiving |
