With the troy folding battle sites, is it necessary to buy the little tool to adjust it?

IF you want folding. Troy or KAC, both very well made and address different issues of a sight.

Fixed. If you want an A2 style rear, LMT. If you want an A1 style rear DD.

Only on the older AK style front sights.  A Bic pen works on AR style elevation and the windage.

Troy Folding
Larue Fixed.  I like the Larue fixed, or even the DD(both A1 style), becuase you don't have the elevation wheel and all the other shit you never use.  Sight them in for 50 yards and leave them alone.

With me being so new to this AR stuff I just listened to the folks here and also got the Troy Folding too and am very...  NO VERY happy with these Troy BUIS.

Best of luck

I haven't had an opportunity to compare many different sights. I'm very happy with the Troy folding BUIS set though.

I've got a LaRue fixed BUIS that I like quite a bit.  I'm debating on swapping it out for a Troy folder though (for the foldingness).

adjusting them with a Firing pin, bullet or something pointy works, but it doesn't work well. might want to order a sight adjusting tool too.

some won't fit, but I know this one does Rainier Arms

I have Troys on all my ARs but am now looking at the KAC. I like how streamline it is and they go for a few $ less than the Troys.

What about the Troy aren't you happy with?

As to the OP:

Folding = Troy
Fixed = Daniel Defense A1.  I like this over the Larue ONLY because I have no reason to make my BUIS quick detach.

Am surprised no one mentioned the A.R.M.S. 40L yet. Is what works best for me, also have a GG@G MAD, but do not care for it at all. Am looking for another 40L. Have not tried the Troy sights yet, am sure I'd like it. Am wanting to standardize a little.

I have a Troy and a KAC Micro 300.

In conjunction with the T-1 I prefer the KAC.  Even when NTCH I cant see the KAC BUIS at all since it is so narrow..  With the Troy it has a larger footprint than the Larue mount and obscures what I can see.  I generally have to run the Troy down so I dont see the large blur around my mount.

I've tried/owned a lot.  I like the gg&g ones the best.  They have the nicest fit and finish, high quality product.  Very expensive though.
