I have heard nothing but exceptional reviews about the Noveske Barrel so I was planning on using this for my 16" mid-length piston (AA) build. However if I am not mistaken the 16.1" Recon barrel will only run with a gas impingement system. So now I have narrowed my search down this barrel was also out of my price range. I would like some suggestions as to some of the top tear barrel in this length. I like the WOA barrel however I am unsure about the chambering in (wylde) instead of 5.56 nato..? I am after complete reliability, this being said I only shoot my reloads and quality ammo and would appreciate the accuracy that would be close to the Noveske Barells. I have always heard great things about WOA. The other option I was looking at is CMMG's 16" chrome barrel. Just looking for some good advice. Thanks ahead of time.

Kreiger, Lilja, and pretty much any top end stainless barrel will be as good as any Noveske.  WOA is kind of a middle of the road stainless barrel IMO, good for the money and way better than any chrome lined barrel.  CMMG has had concentricity issues with the threading on some barrels.  I would not consider a chrome lined CMMG anything but a run of the mill barrel.  A Wylde chamber will eat anything. A NATO chamber is not what you want for the best accuracy.  Its a chamber for reliability with 5.56 ammo.

White Oaks are good.
I have shot plenty of 5.56 through mine; no problem. M193 is not the greatest for accuracy, though. M855 does a little better.
Mine loves 75gr TAP.

Thanks for the info guys. I am really leaning towards the WOA for the money it seems like a great barrel and cheap matching bolt. Do you have any links to the other barrels mentioned? Also are there any other brands I am missing? I just want to make sure I look at all my options. Thanks again!

for the price paid, you wont find a better value than the WOA.

I'm not so sure I'd annoint the Noveske barrel as "the best".  It's certainly outstanding, but among the top barrels makers, it's statistically impossible to idendify a "best".  I'd choose a Kreiger barrel ahead of Noveske for accuracy.  I think the LaRue and Bravo Company stainless barrels are every bit as durable as Chrome Lined barrels, and are every bit precision barrels.

I have a couple of WOA, and they're the best value.

Agreed. I am a huge Noveske fan, however this group was the first group I ever shot with a 16 " SS WOA barrel, pretty damn good I think

I had really good experience with superior barrels as well. We got the barrel for my brother's 16" gun that is still WIP so no range report yet, but just doing business with them was great.

ETA: FWIW I have a 18.5" noveske on one of my rifles. It is DI and I have never had any sort of stoppage with it, I even when I shot about 300 rounds doing controlled pair and hammer pair drills. I was also running it completely dry that day.

I don't have a Superior Barrel (yet) but I would definitely recommend them for their customer service, they are very responsive and frequent ARFCOM quite a bit. Very easy to get questions answered and from all reports I've heard, excellent products.

I do have a White Oak SPR profile barrel, and I am very pleased with it. For the price, I doubt they can be beat, and I think they will hold their own against much more expensive barrels.
