Guys,

I have two rifles with JP Triggers and love them...very crisp, just right.

I have never shot two stage triggers, but hear good things about Jewells and RRA 2 stage NM.

I see Jerry Miculek is pretty high on the trigger he uses.

First off, is there a consensus on the "best" trigger or triggers?  Is there any advantage to a 2 stage vs. single stage or vice versa?

Please give me some feedback...don't see a lot of trigger talk...or maybe I'm just not paying attention.

The current majority belief is the most expensive trigger you can buy, the Geissele, is best.
At a price of close to $300, It better be.

I have Rock River two-stage triggers in two of my rifles.
Seems like a really decent trigger - vastly better than the "stock" trigger.

I haven't fought the Taliban, or won the National Matches with either gun yet.
But, I plan to.

In recent times, I have messed with three units.

Stock - DMPS - which I would give a 3 (on a scale of 1 to 10)

Bill S's 3# units (and I have used two of them for 2600 rounds, give or take) - which I would give a 7.5.

Last night I installed an AR Gold on one of my lowers, and while I have not shot it yet, from dry firing only - I would give it a 9.5.

My Bill S's units have a hint of creep (just a hint) and a pretty decent brake.  Really liked them and used them a bunch with no problems.  Highly recommend them.  Perhaps unbeatable for the money.  Great valaue for the dollar.

The AR Gold trigger - allegedly a two stage - is simply wonderful.  The first stage is not really what I would call a first stage.  The resistence is almost non-existent.  I would call it movement more than resistence.  The 2nd stage involves a noticiable increase in resistence and a nice break.  Very easy to pull thru the 1st stage, hold on the edge of the 2nd, and break it when you want to.  The 2nd stage is, from my subjective observations, noticably lighter than the Bill S 3# units.  Re-set is very short as well.

I have shot some of the others, but its been too long to recall the specifics.

I'm going to order a new Wilson TTU single stage - I bet that's probably one of the best out there...

I've got all JP singles now, except for my build I'm doing now, I want to try a drop-in.

Wrong Geissele, most (including myself) prefer the SSA which is $170:

Geissele SSA

Of the two stage triggers I've used LMT, RRA, KAC, and Geissele. The Geissele is by far my favorite especially when you consider how much less it cost than the KAC.

I only have experience with stock colt trigger and RRA 2 stage NM and just put a Geissle in my RRA Predator Pursuit i shoot bench rest with...awesome.Its really improved my groups. I got the Match Rifle trigger and its 3 1/2 pound second and great but expensive 2 stage. The RRA is good for my tactical gun.I like the way i can feel the first stage take up and just hold it until i squeeze it off.Its just under 4 1/2 lb on my Lyman trigger gauge.

Geissele.

Great guy, great customer service.  Outstanding in every way!

It better be good for the amount of money it costs.  It is worth EVERY penny!

For a NRA service rifle or match rifle, Geissele hands down.  I believe in them enough that I just ordered a Geissele SSA to go in my new CMMG mid-length.  I seriously doubt I'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm looking for something that is both good on the bench, and in "run n gun" matches.  As I said, JP has been good to me so far.  Keep the feedback coming if you've got it.

Here's an article that covers a wide variety of aftermarket triggers.  It may help you make a decision:
