Question for the hive!

My AR(16" A2) is sighted in at 50 yards.  Generally if I am shooting a 55 grain FMJ where should I be hitting at 100yds and at 200yds?

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that sighted at 50 puts you 1 inch low at 100 and spot on at 200?

I know there are many other factors involved but as a general rule, what am I looking at?

Its more like sight in for 50, 1 inch high at 100, back on at 200.
