I recently bought a rifle and noticed the buffer weights were shifting around a bit.  You can hear the weights moving inside the buffer.  Is this normal?  Does it serve a purpose?

To be clear, I am not talking about the buffer moving while in the buffer tube.  After removing the buffer from the buffer tube and spring and moving it around you can hear the internal weights moving.  Still normal?  Thanks for the responses so far.

Normal, it works like a dead-blow hammer.

Normal.

If you take the buffer out and shake it, you should hear them rattle around...

In my experience some buffers have more weight rattle than others.I think it just depends on the manufacturer and the components used.Otherwise its normal.
The Spikes Tactical ST-T2 is interesting. How it works as compared to a standard H2 buffer will be something to wait and see.
