i have cmmg lower under a stag upper that i pieced together from the EE. i was shooting today and i started to have some ftfs
i unloaded the rifle and we to take it apart and heard something rattling inside the lower (no good) i upen it up and the buffer retainer and the buffer retainer spring are running loose in there (the buffer spring was really anxious to get out of there obviously) the buffer retainer spring was messed up pretty bad.

what could have caused this? whats the proper way to fix this?

thanks guys

Sounds like the receiver extension is not threaded forward enough to keep it in place.  Is it a carbine stock?

sounds like you need another 1 turn of that receiver extension to hold the spring and plunger down.

I saw someting similar a couple weeks ago in a rifle course.  The carbine extension did not cover the buffer detent enough (which caused it to come out), but allowed the upper and lower to fit as they should.  Another slight turn of the extension and the detent was covered, but the upper/ lower did not fit together.

The problem was fixed by removing a slight amount of metal from the end of the extension- file and fit work.  The shooter did not have any more problems for the rest of the course.
