Hey guys Im stuck between getting a Noveske stainless barrel vs one of their N4 light series uppers. Now I know that a chrome lined N4 has a longer bbl life because of the chrome but what kind of barrel life can I expect from their stainless line? This is a go to rifle project but not one used in any FA firing protocols or carbine courses. Thanks

kind of off topic, but I wouldn't use stainless for home defense (story time)
I was playing paint ball once. Most people had pump guns, I had a semi tippman 98 (decent starter gun). Some guy comes with his frat bro's gun all decked out like an AR, collapsible stock etc. Very expensive gun, high quality. Shiny stainless barrel. So we split up into teams and go to opposite sides of the woods. Some one yells ready, we start moving etc etc. Well no shots have been fired. Everyone's laying low, looking, not wanting to be the first hit. So I'm looking around and end up seeing something... something in the woods... it looks out of place, sort of bright, shiny. I decide to take a shot at it. First shot fired in the game. "Hit!" I got the guy who had the most expensive gun Because he had a purdy barrel. The end. Hopefully Noveske ss barrels are shiny, or I typed a lot for nothing.

Yeah uummmm they have this stuff now it's called paint.
As stated above the SS barrel will last longer than you think. My build with a 16" Recon barrel, and that shiny waving flag barrel JonnyVain was talking about. http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i152/racerxxl/Arf/123_2350.jpg Care to give specs on that build, exactly what I'm looking at for my next. |

Ummm ya there matte.... ![]() I have two Noveske barrels one 16" Recon in 5.56 and another in 6.8 that I sent out to be ION Bonded. I didn't realize at the time that the matte finish tend to get scuffed up and you have to re-blast it to get it back to smooth matte finish. I heard good things about this process and it not only makes the barrel black, but the finish is tough as nails, A friend of mine was fitting a gas block on his ion bond barrel and put a big scratch on the barrel . It wiped right off. |
