Hey folks! Did a few searches on this but I didn't find any topics that really answered my question so I thought I'd ask.
I'm going to be hitting a rifle range for the first time in a long time this coming Labor Day weekend to zero in my new AR (LWRCi M6A2) and do a heck of a lot of shooting with it. I'm primarily a handgun shooter and haven't shot a rifle in just over a year, so I'd like to get a shooting rest to minimize user error while zeroing. That way I can spend the rest of the weekend trying to shoot as well without the added assistance. |

Here is a recent thread on the subject....

congrats on the LWRC. this is my new M6A2 on a caldwell "the rock". i think it goes for around 80 bucks. the rear bag is also made by caldwell. works good with 20 rnd mags, but it's not high enough for 30 rounders. i also use it for a DPMS LR308, and various bolt rifles. notice i removed the aft leveling spike to provide more room under the mag. i'm happy with this setup.

| I have used a lead sled http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=152664 , but suggest you use a bipod or shoot prone with an improvised support like suggested above. |
If you are on the budget, then spend your money wisely - buy good Harris bipod (you can get good for under $100) and zero from prone position with extra support on the rear, like sand bag (or sock). This way you can effectively and cheaply zero your rifle and continue to enjoy your excellent bipod for years to come...

| I prefer a bipod to a rest. My rest was a pain in the ass to take in my range bag it was so heavy. I have a Larue/Harris combo and that is much easier to tote and it does not allow my rifle to cant once tightened down. You still need a rear bag of some sort though. |
