I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest about bushmasters but I have a question. I have 3 bushmasters I bought in 1994. One shorty, one dissipator and one 20". I am curious if anyone knows what standards they were built to 15 years ago. It was my understanding that bushmaster was making rifles for the US military at that time. They have given me no trouble but the 20" is the only one that has seen extended use during numerous week long shooting schools. Thanks for any info.

Steve before the ban? you can get good money for pre-ban lowers in a commie state these days. don't know about specs from back then. |

so if I was interested in furnishing these preban lowers to commie state residents where would be a good place to advertise? anybody know if BM made these rifles to mil-spec back then? Definitely not milspec, but their barrels and A2 upper receivers were pretty good, I'd probably replace the BCG with a BCM unit. If you go flat-top they won't have M4 feed ramps so you will need ADCO to add the ramps if you want them. Don't get caught up on mil-spec, think more like "is this gun reliable?" Am I using this a SHTF? If so, you might want to sell one of the uppers and buy a BCM upper. But really, Bushmaster is a good rifle. The EE has a lower section just for pre-ban lower sellers. You can get $300 for a stripped lower compared to buying a new one for $120. On three guns that's $550 in profit, enough for at least 3 BCM BCGs! |
