Ok, this is my first range report, so go somewhat easy on me.
and sorry for the lack of pics, i didnt think about doing a range report until after a couple days after my range session. anyways, i took out my newly aquired CMMG .22 conversion kit for my Bushy to the range the other day . i got to the range, setup a target at 25 meters and zeroed my eotech in for the conversion kit. the accuracy was very good, or at least for a conversion kit and a red dot, i probably could have tightened up the groups with a magnified scope, but i dont plan on hunting or anything like that with this so getting match grade accuracy isnt what i am worried about. the ammo i was using was remington bulk (cant remember the exact round), the reason i was using remington is that i couldnt find any federal or winchester in my area, so it had to do... after zeroing the rifle, i moved to the steel siloettes which were still at 25 meters (i was fortunet enough to use the steel targets, it is rare that the range master allows people, from what i see anyways, to shoot the steel). and i ran some drills, like double taps, triple taps, the drill from larry vickers i believe where you shoot target 1 with one round and targets 2 with 2 rounds etc, until you get to 5 on target 5. just to see how it fares with rapid fire, and to test out my limited skills with tactical situations. which is the main reason i got the conversion kit is to train up a bit, on a budget lol the kit ran very well, i did have some instances where i had FTF's and FTE, but i am going to blame this on the remington for now, until i test it with federal or winchester ammo, if i can ever find it! but other than that i had no double feeds or anything along those lines, the CMMG mag worked very well, it does have some play while in the mag well, but for a range toy and light training use, it will work fine. the thing that i noticed most, was how dirty this thing gets! i mean, REALLY dirty, the conversion kit/upper and lower recievers/ and the mag got 3-4X dirtier than even when i shoot 150rds of wolf through my AR! i dont really mind a dirty gun, because i enjoy cleaning my weapons after a range session, but wow, the charging handle looked like someone took a mud and lightely coated the groove of it! i didnt take down the bolt itself to clean it, because i didnt know if i was supposed to or not, but i cleaned it very good everywhere i could. quik question: is it normal for you to find slivers of the bullets jacket in the chamber while cleaning and have little bits of it inside the bolt? while i was cleaning i would occasionally pull out parts of the rounds from the chamber, and while brushing up the bolt i would see tiny bits of it in there as well... all and all it is a VERY nice piece of kit and i will reccomend it to anybody who is considering something like this. CMMG, i will definetly be buying more of your gear in the future, excelent job! next time i go to the range i will test out some federal or winchester to see if that fixes the FTE's (if i can find any!) I've got the Spike's with a CMMG magazine. It took about 100 rounds before it really got running smoothly. Also, it fired out of battery once and was quite loud. There is no safety feature at all to prevent firing out of battery. The normal Stoner design has the safety mechanisms built into the bolt carrier group. Replace that... Nothing to stop it. |

To answer your question: Slivers of bullets not normal..slivers of brass (casing) is normal. it may have been casing slivers, it just looked alittle darker than the brass itself, that's why i called it part of the bullet. Has anyone tried the CCI Velocitor or Stinger, also I here the Aguila Supermax are among the most potent 22 LR bullets you can get,( I here Rem Viper and yellow jacket are OK as well, just not as fast/hot) so maybe the 22 LR kits will run better with them than the weaker 22 LR bullets?
