| Does anyone have a list of rifle companys that claim milspec on their ar-15s |
|
I have seen a number of people claim this but no proof. I have also not seen any proof that the part that is supposedly MIM would be a problem. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: FACT "Milspec" does not mean "Better Spec" True but most are not better. They don't even meet the basic Military specifications, much less exceed them. I love pointing out MIM parts in beloved 6920s and 6940s XD |

Ya forgot Barrett, Remington, HK, etc. They all build rifles that are Mil Spec.
So does Kalishnikov and Norinco. Shit, so does DAEWOO. GM Hydramatic, Sears, Singer, International Harvester, U.S. Postal Meter, Winchester, etc. etc. And then theres the subcontractors. |
| The reason I need to know this is because certain police departments have policies that say that you can carry your personally owned ar-15s as a rifle. Others read that you can carry your own but they need to be "milspec". Who actually declares firearms as "milspec". I have looked at a bunch of ar-15s and I really can't tell any difference. |

Quoted: That information is wrong. Neither Stag nor Sig make ARs for the .mil.Quoted: stag colt sig Where did you get this information Colt, Sabre, and FN are the only companies currently manufacturing ARs for the .mil right now. Due to the ban on newly manufactured machine guns, there is no way that you can get a currently built truly mil-spec rifle. Several companies will sell you a rifle that is as close to mil-spec as you can legally get. |

Also, don't you ever get tired of trolling the technical discussion forums? |

Isn't Knight's Armament is making rifles for the military? Yes, the M110. I thought the Marine Corps is also being issued the SR15 or 16. They might be, I don't know too much about USMC stuff. I think there is a few SR25's floating around out there too. |

You really cleared up your initial question by stating the purpose, your PD says your personally owned AR must be mil-spec. The truth is, your PD doesnt know what Mil-Spec is....those specs aren't available to them, or us for that matter. Its sounds like your department is trying to sound smart, but it isnt working. I would ask for a copy of the military specifications from the PD...... it will be interesting to see what they give you. I'm sure we can all have a laugh when you share them.
