Looking to purchase some spares. Is the RRA bolt and BCG a good choice?

thanks!

I have two extra's and have tried them both out. They both function fine and there have been no issues.

As good as any. Quality stuff.

Thanks to all. Wasn't sure after reading Pat's treatise, and the other posts here re: MPI bolts, LMT being the only ones to buy, etc.

Thank you all,

BCM my friend. if you're going to buy "extras", then get the best.

I believe RRA just uses CMT's bcg.

CMT is decent, but if I had to buy one, I'd get a BCM.  They're even in stock.

Is that over even the LMT? or the LMT with the enhanced BCG and bolt?

Thanks very much to all for the input

appreciate the reference, but wil have to go for the SA version, that one ws for the full auto. No need to interface with BATF....

thank you, Wayne

not bad, but as others have said, I'd probably go BCM since they're in stock and not much more in price.

I have both LMT and CMT SA BCG but my personal preference is my LMT because the gas key is properly staked.

Bravo Company have some LMT SA BCG in stock but I'm not sure if they have the old forged gas keys or the new MIM gas keys (see ref. LMT MIM gas key thread link below), most of the members here including myself prefers the old forged gas keys.

Other good properly staked SA BCG are S&W, Armalite, and Sabre Defence.

There is absolutely nothing illegal about running a FA bolt carrier in a semi-auto rifle, and it is actually preferred.  The higher end manufacturers ship AR-15s with FA carriers, like Colt for example.

Yeah, and regarding staking, if you can wack-a-mole at Chuckie Cheese...you can stake a key,

Because it is cheaper...

re: FA carriers:
really? I want to spit..... . Had several FA bolt carriers including an experimental aluminum one which was supposed to change the cyclic action. Thought ANY FA parts would run you afoul of the BATF.
Traded 4 FA for 2 SA to avoid the machining. Apparently, didnt deal with a reputable person at the time.....

cripe..... Well, good to know! Thanks!

What?  it has nothing to do with price, the FA carriers are a little heavier due to the extra material on the bottom rear.

[#18]
right.  they are a little heavier because there is less machine work done on them.  machine work costs time and tooling.

one part number is much easier to deal with than two part numbers.  less logistics hassle.

Of course, some people pay good money to get their bolt carrier wittled on so that it has less mass.  And they do it for good reason...

Its all about the money, honey, and its not always about the dollars, its about the sense.

Actually, looking at the LMT bolts, they offer a heavier one to increase lock time. Check out their 'enhanced' bolt and carrier.
