| What is the difference between a milspec buffer tube and a regular buffer tube??? |
|
Quoted: The mil-spec is forged and thinner, and commercial is cast and thicker. Commercial is cast to cut down on costs i believe. I would go with the mil-spec since forged is stronger and more aftermarket buttstocks are available. I have guns with both, make very little difference for the average civilian. I shoot both my guns probably more than most as I own rural land. Just not worth losing sleep about either, they both do the job. You have to look at the fact that civilian AR15 guns are not the exact same copies of the M16. |

What's the difference between an arfcommer who uses the search function and one who asks the same question that gets asked and answer weekly? http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/nicholsmf/CTR_Stock_Specs.jpg and while I'm at it, here the difference between a standard and "F" marked FSB and a photo explanation of feedramps. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/nicholsmf/fsb.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q287/nicholsmf/ARFCOM/feedramps.jpg Oh, and 1/7 > 1/9
Now that's a comprehensive post! |

Also, I think the commercial versions are extruded, not cast. I have no idea how strong a thicker extruded tube is compared to a thinner forged one. |
