I know the correct answer is "5 of each", but i'm still asking as i haven't hit the lottery yet.

If you were looking at your first build and only build for the time being (due to finances, not wants), would you go with a 16" mid length or 14.5" carbine upper? The ones i'm referencing are the BCM standard uppers. As i can get either for the same price, that has no bearing. Any pros/cons for going one way or the other, or is it all pretty much personal preference? Opinions welcome. Thanks!!!

If you want a 14.5" you'll need to:

- pay for a tax stamp

or

- permanently attach the muzzle device

I'd go with a 16", since it's a middy and you don't have to pin the flash hider.

Forgot to ad that i would be pinning the flash hider if going with 14.5". That's why i'm thinking i might as well just get the 16".

16" middy.  Wont regret that purchase at all...

Both are gtg. I have an all BCM 16" middy that I love, so I just ordered a BCM 14.5" upper and about to order another BCM lower, so I can have an all BCM M4

If it was for a home defense configuration that I didn't plan on changing (at least changing in so far as needing to remove the muzzle device), I'd got with a perm attached 14.5". Otherwise, I'd go with the 16" mid.
