I took my AR target set up to the range today dialing a scope. It shot and function perfectly. When I picked up the brass I noticed every case had a ding in it about half way up the case. Anybody know what would cause this? I do have the BCM extractor upgrade.

Could be from the brass deflector or part of the receiver/action as its ejected

It is indeed from the brass deflector-the chunk of metal that sticks out behind the ejection port.  It's completely normal and completely safe.  That brass is also reloadable-the dent doesn't hurt it at all.

Thanks guys. You would think of the 1000's of rounds I've shot over the years, I would have seen that before. Then again, I never reloaded and now am saving the brass.

It's like when you buy a new car you suddenly start seeing that model everywhere.  Welcome to the additional disease of "brass scrounging."
