[ARCHIVED THREAD] - KAC RAS install question

I have the handguard installed, but the retaining screw on the top of the rail near the barrel nut isn't screwing in straight and doesnt seem to tighten all the way. Is this norrmal? Anyone else experience this? Thanks

no that is not normal. you better make sure you actually got it on right

No, dont force it. Take it off and see closely that everything lines up. Then, try and carefully re-install it and see if the screw will go in.
ETA: the screw probably has loctite on it so it may be a little more snug than a normal screw.

It is in there solidly, everything aligns. It was screwing in like this before I even installed it. I also cleaned the blue loc-tite that was on there to see if it threaded easier.

Your screw is cocked, should be straight, the bottom of the crew head should be level with the rail.

Try to remove the screw and install it again.

It took me a few tries to mount my RAS but it went in after trying several times.

It's been a while since I installed mine, but see if you can slip something in that cooling hole to prop the clamp upward - that might help line things up.

It seems the barrel nut is a little out of line, causing the gas tube to out of line as well. This does not solve the screw issue, because the screw threads look a little damaged. I have emailed KAC to see about a replacement.
