ancient arfcom proverb say "better to be able to shoot one gun well than ten poorly."
sad truth is i found myself trying to order more tacticool parts rather that shooting the dumb gun. seems like an easy trend that allot of people here fall into. i am off to the range to burn the ammo i have. once i have dumped and replenish my stash then i will keep building.

Well said. I've spent a lot of time and money deciding what the "ultimate" rifle and gear set-up should be. I lurked through several threads, did my research, obsessed on small items, and researched some more. Then I went and got all my uber-tacticool toys to the range and did some "run 'n gun" drills. What an eye-opener. Gear that logically seemed to be the best choice, didn't work as envisioned. My rule now is for a lot of range time with each individual change of equipment. It's the only way I've found to know what works best for me. |

(Ask me how I know. )

The moral here may be that the rifle is to shoot, and unless something actually helps you shoot it better, think twice about it. Yeah, it makes for nice pix in the "Look at my AR" threads, but a whole lot of that tacticool stuff just adds weight and is VERY expensive.
Spend that money on ammo and increase your proficiency. . . |
