| I did'nt do a lot of research before I bought my first AR. I had only heard of the the ABC's. Armalite, Bushmaster,Colt. I bought my first AR 2 weeks ago. It's a Bushmaster carbine with 16 inch barrel. I had thought that they were buil ti military specs and was wrong, so im told. I also thought I was getting the best. Was I right or wrong? What are you guys opinion? Please be genttle! |

It isn't the best, but they're still good rifles. A friend's brother has one... I've looked at it, and it looks fine. He has had excellent reliability with it. It wouldn't be my first choice if I were going to go beat some Commie's teeth out with it... But it'll do for most scenarios. |

| Are there better quality parts out there than Bushmaster..yea..are they real good rifles out of the box...Yea.You have a great core rifle and the only changes I would make is is a quality MP inspected HP tested carrier assembly. The barrels are batch tested but ive never had problems with their barrels although now I prefer Sabre,LMT, and higher end real deal like the service uses barrels. Its a great quality rifle higher grade I think than Stag or RRA with the adavantage going to Bushy for the barrels but I wouldnt have a problem using a Stag,RRA or Armalite AR either.Do your part and the rifle will run and run and run. |
| Definitely not the best, but will still serve most anyone's purposes quite well. My Bushy worked well while I owned, but I upgraded for a Noveske. You won't really notice a difference if you have not owned a "top tier" AR. But you notice the differences instantly if you have owned both. If you are worried that you got a piece of junk, then you have nothing to worry about. Bushys are well made, but there are better ARs out there. |

Don't get too wrapped up in your rifle's "rank". If your new Bushy is a consistent, reliable performer that's the only thing that matters.
I enjoy shooting my Bushmaster every bit as much as my Colts, Rock Rivers, and LMTs. I'd be willing to wager that you'll enjoy yours every bit as much as I enjoy mine. Congratulations on your new rifle Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

My only AR-15 is the 2005 AR15.com Special Edition Black Rifle (SEBR) and it's a BUSHMASTER. They're built like tanks and they can take a beating.
Of course mine is so customized now only the core is still a Bushmaster (i.e. The upper+barrel and the lower+trigger) Stock, tube, trigger guard, buffer, grip, handguards, carrier group, etc. are all tricked out stuff. (2 gripes about Bushmaster, the parkerizing on the barrel looks like shit, and the feeds ramps are rough and look like shit) |

That whole "ABC" thing is way outdated. I wouldn't worry too much about it. out of the 1:9 commercial barrels, Bushy probably has the best one. Here is some suggestions for improving the gun-
1) make sure the bolt carrier is properly staked - if not stake it yourself or have someone do it for you 2) Get a bolt upgrade kit from BCM - this will have a hardened extractor, black insert, 5 coil spring, new rings and an O ring. Install this on your bolt. 3) stake the castle nut - I purposely did not so one of mine to see how many rounds before it loosened up. A two-day carbine course did the trick. Once again - stake the castle nut. 4) Get an H buffer - the bushy probably shipped with a carbine buffer which is not really ideal. Throw an H buffer in there to help it cycle better. For around $50 worth of parts and a couple of things you can do for free, your gun should run pretty good. |
