i recently bought a bushmaster and have put about 300 rounds through it. its been a great gun so far and i plan to buy either a daniel defense m4 or a colt 6920 for the 1/7 twist.
i really like this rifle but im new to the ebr disease and have a few questions. 1. since i have it zeroed at 25 yards, its also zeroed at 300 yards correct? what if i want to shoot at 100 yards or any other distance? the reason for this is that the range i go to doesnt have a 300 yard target area. 2. i want to install a daniel defense omega rail. how do i get the original rail off? 3. which aimpoint and mount would you guys recommend? 4. how do you install the lmt sopmod stock? does it just slip on the original buffer tube? 5. heres the dumb one. ive seen the link that shows that the m193 bullets fragment upon impact. do all 5.56 and 223 fmj's do this? |

Technically, yes you are zeroed at 300 if your zeroed at 25. If you want to shoot at 100 aim low. 2. i want to install a daniel defense omega rail. how do i get the original rail off? The rail comes off the same way it was put on, very easily. The hand guards come off by pulling back on the delta ring, right in front of your action. 3. which aimpoint and mount would you guys recommend? Get a M2 or a M3, and go with a LaRue mount or you will just have to buy it later on. 4. how do you install the lmt sopmod stock? does it just slip on the original buffer tube? Bushmasters have a commercial tube, the SOPMOD wont work. You'll have to buy the LMT kit and replace the tube so the stock fits. 5. heres the dumb one. ive seen the link that shows that the m193 bullets fragment upon impact. do all 5.56 and 223 fmj's do this? Most 5.56 rounds fragment if they are going fast enough. If they aren't going fast enough to fragment, at least they will yaw inside the target. |

I don't know how many 300yd. shots you take but the 50-200yd zero is much flatter out to about 235yds.(~1 1/2" high @100yds, ~ 2"low @ 235-240 yds.) |

Actually depending on the ammo used your far zero will be closer to 350 yards. 25 yards is a poor range to zero, try at 50 you'll get much better results. 2. i want to install a daniel defense omega rail. how do i get the original rail off? Depends on which rail you currently have - post pics or give us a name and we'll be able to help you out. 3. which aimpoint and mount would you guys recommend? Mount is definately LaRue, Aimpoint should be T1 if you got the $$ Comp M2 is fine if you're on a budget. 4. how do you install the lmt sopmod stock? does it just slip on the original buffer tube? You'll need to pull on the latch, but that is basically all you need to do. ETA: The above poster has a good point, the receiver extension will need to be replaced with a mil-spec tube to use the LMT - see the Q&A in the <Read First> thread tacked up in this forum. 5. heres the dumb one. ive seen the link that shows that the m193 bullets fragment upon impact. do all 5.56 and 223 fmj's do this? M193s don't fragment on impact, it usually takes 4-6" before they'll yaw and fragment. Many .233 rounds will fragment, but not all of them do.
