Mounts to rail. let me find it.

Knights Armament makes one.  Kac finger stop

It is expensive though.

Keep you from shooting your off hand when racking shotgun if it slips on a 14in barrel shot gun or in his case SBR.

I remember someone using a LaRue BUIS as a hand-stop / stubby vertical grip at one point.  Seem to work well enough.  Sold mine otherwise I'd try it now.

Well, since it's a registered SBR, you could always use a stubby VFG like a Larue FUG or Tango Down stubby. It looks cool and gives you a place to stash extra stuff.

Found a hand stop in this thread.  Looks pretty cool.

I've seen and installed the one from Ergo and the one from Knights. I have only show with the one from Knights. By looking at each, you may not know how much the Knights one costs, but you can tell the Ergo one is only $5. Thats all I can really say about that.

Ordered 2 of the Ergo hand stops, works great and looks pretty slick too.

For the price ($5) they are well worth it and im surprised theyre not higher priced.

Anyone looking for a handstop should consider the Ergo.

The Ergo one looks like it is simply a thick piece of plastic rail cover, is that the case?

unless your shooting highpower, sling supported, it's facing the wrong direction (or do you not apply rearward pressure?)

says who?

Rearward pressure is still being made holding the handguard
I'm using it as an index point.
Trying it both forward and to the rear turned around.

Use a nylon barrel band. Being cool doesn't replace fingers.

Have you considered installing a longer barrel?  Benefits would included - - - increased hand safety, lower noise, improved terminal effectiveness, and longer sight radius.

Knights may be the bees knees, but why do they insist on using cheesy standard screws? An Allen or Torx would be a much better fastener.

Which is easier to find in the field, something to use as a flathead screwdriver, or a torx/allen wrench?

Well. like most people, I was taught to put loctite on every threaded fastener. Why would you want to use a fastener that becomes increasingly difficult to take off when used with loctite? (An Allen or Torx are going to give you a much better hold for removal when it's loctite'd in place than a standard ever will)

You're next question is going to be - Why take it off then? I wouldn't. You're the one who brought it up.

Wait...  I thought the point was to prevent your hand from slipping forward by being far forward on the rail, not to provide a surface for backwards pressure.  If you want a surface for backwards pressure, why not just a VFG?

Indeed.

I have mine mounted in the same way as mvician.  The purpose is not to hold it.  You still grip the forearm to apply rearward pressure.

The hand stop is just that... a stop.  Prevents any forward movement of the hand.

You guys kill me,

tell me 1 more time how you dont give a Sh*t how your toys look.

Yes, I have a standard  20"  an 16" barreled ARs only a small #,, I'm no big timer.

My short barrel is for kicks and giggles. and yes I like for it too look as mean as it acts, the hand-stop was for safety more than the looks, but I wasnt going too start adding junk too it now that its finished,

again,, thanks for all the help and direction on finding what i was looking for
now its time for another HighLife.

I posted this on another thread on this item . It kind of reminds me of the ww2 German MP40. The barrel was designed to help steady the weapon when firing from the port of an armored vehicle.

$5.00 from Ergo

I'm thinking you reverse this one, as seen on the shotty, and put it with the hook forward. Might work like the cut down one.

Much easier to find a cheesy screwdriver than an Allen or Torx in a pinch. You can make a flathead screwdriver in a pinch.

Oops.. a little late.

I have to agree, a flathead is much easier to find quickly.

Might have chose another make or style if it were a carry rifle.

Someone previously asked about the material,, seems too be hard rubber over plastic it flexes just enough to be durable.
