Well what can I say I am on vacation this week and for the first time I can't wait for the end of the week so I can pick up my AR! About 2 wks ago I went to my local FFL to buy a Glock, being a veteran I was of course drawn to the fine selection of ARs they had. I looked at them all, but in the end I chose to go with the "no frills" 20" Armalite. I figured the carbine with the collapsable stock was nice but I wanted a fresh canvas that I can customize for what I want. They made me one hell of a deal on it, 2x30rd mags, a case,2 boxes of JHPs, and the AR all for $950, I thought it was a good deal so I couldn't pass it up. Apparently it was "used", a guy bought it 2wks prior, it rained for those 2wks, he never got a chance to fire it, needed money and sold both of his back to the local FFL. The owner was selling the other one that he fired for that price and once he found out I was a Navy Corpsman that deployed with the USMC he said what the hell, it is "used."  I inspected it thoroughly and even if he did fire it there is no way you can tell, and he showed me the original receipt so I know he wasnt lying about. Now I have to wait until Thursday when I get paid to pick it up. So while I'm on vacation suppose to be having fun, I am waiting impatiently like a kid waits for Christmas. I've already stocked up on ammo, and my wife is prepared for my absence at the end of the week. The question I have for everyone is, what do you think I should put money into first? I was thinking a scope and bipod since I like distance shooting. Where do you all think I will get the biggest return in performance?

Just shoot it for a couple of months without changing anything.  Then you will have a better handle on what you need and what you will use the rifle for. There are so many accessories that we all feel the need to add crap.  A k.i.s.s. rifle is reliable and fun.  As for bipods, after buying several, I find that I use a rifle sand bag rather than a bipod 95% of the time.  Congratulations.

That is sort of what I planned to do. I normally won't buy anything unless doing a ton of research on it. The only thing I may do is pick up a cheap scope at Wally World, just something for now and do some research on what I want and like.

When I got my 20" the only thing I changed was the grip, I got a Magpul MOE because it fits my hand better.  That's all I'd recommend, a MOE or a MIAD.

Congrats.  Just get lots of ammo for now.  And maybe a few Pmags to put it in.
