They're plastic and from what I've seen just like any other BUIS.

They are a polymer and seem to be pretty strong. They lock sung in place and are very easy to pop up (karate chop if ya want).

One complaint seems to be their size. They take up a bit more rail space than the irons.

For the price and magpul's rep, I was hard pressed to find a better option. I have mine and havent regretted it one bit. I am also not in life/death situations as I am just a casual shooter. Take for worth.

I have the rear MBUS and i love it.  I like how easy they are to get up and down.

The rear one I saw on an M&P15 looked nice and solid.  But it did take up more rail space then my troy.  I'd be worried that I'd have to shift my acog up another slot... and would throw my cheekweld outa whack.

Meh.  Not for a SHTF or duty rifle.
