Thanks for the feedback guys. To answer questions:

Magpul BUIS: Have not yet had a chance to shoot it, but I really like the Magpul sights in terms of weight and ease of use. Things are so light, and one flick of the finger deploys them.

Optic: Right now I am leaning toward the Aimpoint M3L in a 2 MOA red dot. My buddy has a M2 with a 4 MOA dot and I am going to try that first.

Weight: Surprisingly, even with the 12 inch rail, this rifle is very light. Much lighter than my friends Rock River that he brought over last night with a 9 inch rail. I think the difference though is in the barrel profiel, with mine being the lightweight govt, and his being the non-contoured H barrel. Right now I dont see any need for fluting it.

Im just wondering what option do you select for them to color their logo on the lower, and the safe fire markings? Never saw that on their website.

Did it myself man. All you need is some testors paint, some paint thinner and some toothpicks/small paintbrush. There are a few threads on here about doing it. Thats what I did to pass the time between getting my lower and waiting on my upper. RRA is a bitch to do if you want to do it two colors cause they tend to mix easily. Its really simple to do and holds up well to CLP.

I actually have an armalite, i was looking into a RRA until i found a sweet deal a 16" flattop carbine for $850. It is my first AR too, actually the first gun i actually "own" since i turn 18 in July, my father bought it with my money. Thanks for the info, im going to go look for that thread, do you know what section its under? I really like the look. My Classic Army airsoft M4 has the white lettering and i've grown to really like it.

I started off trying to get a complete RRA, but there was no way I could wait 8-12 months to fit an upper on my RRA lower. Started reading about BCM and really was sold on that upper as the way to go for me. Cool on the armalite. You should post a pic of it.

As for coloring in the rollmarks on the lower, here is the thread you should read: How to Color an AR

Good luck.

How long was the wait as I didn't think BCM had a waiting list on uppers, either it's 'In Stock' or SOL.
Looks good, gonna put an optic on top?

You are correct, BCM does not do waiting list/backorders. Basically, you have to sign up for an email alert on BCM's site and couple that with a subscription to the BCM upper thread over in the industry forum. Paul (BCM rep) will post regularly when product should be expected to hit the site.

You have to "luck" into it sorta, meaning you need to be near the internet once you get the alerts. Really though, I only missed one round of midlength uppers before I got what I wanted. I started looking in late March and got my upper in mid May, not too shabby in this gun environment.

As for the optic, the plan is for an Aimpoint ML3 with a 2 MOA red dot.

Took a stab at it, unfortunetly i didnt have red in the testors, im not sure if its flat or glosy, but the white is testors flat. Used a razor blade and a 1:1 ratio of paint to thinner. I was going to do the crosshair behind the lion but its too thin, so the already light red doesnt show, plus that would have taken hourss and lots of cursing to put wax everywhere the crosshair and lion met, which is EVERYWHERE?!

Also im too laszy to wipe all the oil. I havent oiled it yet (or shot it) just got it two weeks ago and the factory oil is still leaking out, even though every time i touch it i wipe off the oil.

I THink its photobucket resizing the photos, but all the print is perfectly sharp in real life, just not in the pictures

The OP's rifle shows that arfcom works!

Back in the day, you'd need to be a genius (no slight against our OP intended) to have a first build come out so freakin' nice.

Well done ALL!
