I've been breaking in the barrel on a new AR and am finding the spent cases are failing to eject. When I place a dummy round in the chamber and hand crank the bolt the round comes straight out. The gun's got an adjustable gas block so I am wondering whether this needs adjustment. Not sure whether this is a symptom of being over gased or under gased. Any views?

Post a photo. Where does the brass end up? Is it crushed? YOu may just need an o-ring or spring and insert upgrade on your extractor.
From your brief post, we don't know anything about barrel length, buffer, spring, stock, ammo, etc............kinda like telling the doctor "it hurts when I do this....." Hand cycling rounds or dummies doesn't really tell you much,. |

The case comes out but it just doesn't leave the ejection port. so its just not cycling back far enough to eject the spent case and pic up a new one.? If it is pulling it out of the chamber this is a short stroking problem and may lie in the gas block or elsewhere in the gas system, is the gas block a clamp on style or is it pinned.? |
| I'm currently loading one round at a time because I am breaking in the barrel. After I pull the trigger, the bolt locks back on the empty mag and the case comes out of the chamber, but it doesn't get ejected out of the gun. The case just ends up sitting loose on top of the empty mag. It's an adjustable gas block. |

Just shoot the doggone thing. It sounds like you really do not have a problem yet. |

I'll give 3 to 1 odds that it's nothing more thgan too weak an extractor spring. Almost always is And if the bolt locks back after the last round but the case is still in the rifle, it's not likely to be a gas problem. Get a Wolff HD extractor spring, or a Colt M4 spring, and a black extractor insert. Bet your problem disappears. |

If not shoot it and take pictures, then post with description of gas block, and barrel length. I bet the new extractor spring will fix it though. Good Luck, AP |

If you're too cheap for the above, go to Home Depot and pick up a O-ring and try that first. |

Could it be anything to do with the adjustable gas block and the gun being over gased? Good gracious yes!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111 I don't think most folfs were actually reading his entire post. Extractor, Bolt, Chamber, and Buttstock swivel screw will all take a back seat here to the aftermarket problems of an adjustable gas block. I don't mean to be critical, but there's a reason 99.9% of all the AR15's and M16's ever made DO NOT have anything other than the simple A-frame front sight block. Tex78 |

I adjusted and I have ejection! |
