Ok so I did search, but I didnt find anything here about sun devil.  They seem to look good and I am leaning towards them since the place is right around the corner from me.

What do people think about them here?  Any reviews either good or bad?

The reason I am asking is because I am looking at buying my first AR.  The other one I am thinking about is an older pre-ban (yes OLD) armalite.  I dont know the exact model, but it looks to be new.  A friend of mine owns it and it has less than 500 rounds through it.

he wants about 1k for it and I think I can get a sun devil for about the same price.

So, what the general opinion?  Where the older armalite's as good as the new sun devils, or would the armalite be considered a collectors item due to the age and condition?

Sun Devil has a good rep, there are quite a few of their uppers and lowers in pics on this site.  I think there have been a couple posts about people having a hard time getting LaRue rails installed on a sun devil upper, but I think there was a work around.

I'd go for the Armalite.  It has a lifetime guarantee, and is generally considered to be one of the top tier manufacturers (at least one of the top 5 of the major manufacturers).  I have a 20" hbar A4, and it has been flawless.

I have both and like both. If you plan on keeping it go with the one you like the best. If you plan on selling down the road more people will know the Armalite name.  Both are good quality.

My vote would be Armalite. Great rifles with lifetime warranties.
Many old timers will tell you to stick with the ABCs of rifles. Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt.

Whichever you choose, welcome to wonderful world of black rifles.

I have an armalite rifle which has been tops, built one on a sundevil lower and it was very nice.  Never touched a complete rifle or upper from them though.

Well, I have bad news.

I can't decided, I guess I will just have to end up with both.  I am going to get the Armalite now since I can get a Sun Devil any time.

I have a Sun Devil 20" upper.  It's very well built, and they were a great company to work with.  Welcome to the forums!

I have a sun devil upper and lower on my SBR, from Arizona Armory.  Very high quality.  The only grumble is that many rail systems don't fit the upper - I had to have a Troy rail milled to fit.

What all rail systems did you find out that would fit?

Couple of questions.

1) Does Armalite have life-time warranty on the lower they sold? Or only on complete rifle? If it's complete rifle, you have to make sure it went out the factory as complete rifle.

2) Is Sun Devil making stuff out of 6061 or 7075 aluminum alloy? I remember reading before that Sun devil is 6061, and most of other makers use 7075 alloy. Supposedly 7075 is more durable.
