Your removable carry handle looks just like mine on my Colt 6721 except mine have the forge marking letters splintered "A" and "B".
I've seen the letters "A" and number 8 also on other Colt carbines. It's normal that the rear edge of the carry handle doesn't line up with the rear end of the flat top rail, mine is the same as yours. Unfortunately Colt doesn't mark their detachable carry handles so there's no way to confirm if they're a genuine Colt, you could only compare the forge markings and unique similar machining details. |

It almost certtainly is Colt. How do I know? Because position of the weep hole on the left side, and the height of the sight wings, indicates that the rear sight assy is totally milspec; and almost nobody else in the industry does that. The've all been making the rear sight assy units .04 inches lower than milspec, so they wouldn't have to use an F marked front sight base on the barrel.
And I DO mean EVERYBODY; from Bushmaster on down. Of course the irony is that while nobody was paying atterntion to the height of aftermarket issue profile rears, everybody was screaming for F marked front units, which has begun to penetrate the market. Well, that's probably a good thing; since so many of the asftermarket back up type rears are, in fact, milspec; so the F base is right for them. |
