I have owned and enjoyed my AR – 15 for sometime now. Due to spending time on this site I have decided that the only thing better than shooting an AR is building and shooting your own creation. So I bought an Essential Arms stripped lower and I’m ready to get started. That’s where all you DIY experts come in. What are the basic tool and equipment that I should get before starting? I see all kinds of special wrenches, holders, alignment tools and gadgets that are for sale. I’m not planning on going into business doing this just getting set up to do my own. My son – in – law is an Army DI and has been a big help working with my store bought AR. Also I have studied books, videos and web sites. Any help will be appreciated.

All I have is a good set of punches, a DPMS barrel wrench, action block, and a good torque wrench. I followed the instructions in the build it your self forum and viola............just built my first complete rig about 2 weeks ago.
Good luck. It is ALOT of fun turning a pile of parts into YOUR perfect rifle.

Small Hammer
Punches
Stock Wrench
Hollow ground screw driver bits for proper fit
Loctite

Buy the upper complete so you don't have to worry about more tools and this should be left to someone who knows what they are doing.
