Check Brownells, they have a lot of small parts they sell individually.

having had them break in the past and jam the gun i no longer run them in any of mine.

just know when you break the gun open the buffer is loose. you don't need it for the gun to function.

Didnt know I could do that. You just hold the buffer/spring in place and close the upper?

Yes.

Just remember that there is nothing holding the buffer the next time you open it up.

ETA: When you close the upper and lower halves the back of the bolt carrier actually pushes the buffer off of the buffer detent.

I have placed 3 orders with PK in the last week, but they have to be a minimum of $20, so I thought I would try to see if someone one here had one.

You're looking at less than $9 from brownells for a buffer detent and spring. Might as well buy a 5-pack of springs and an extra detent....

(that $9 includes their $5 small-item shipping)

here:

http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/catsearch.aspx?k=buffer%20detent&ps=10&si=True

edit again:

the 5-pack of springs is only $1.34 even without the C&R/FFL/business discount

as i said i have had and seen several break over the years when the do the nipple has a habit of getting jammed between the carrier and the upper locking it to the rear. fix usually involves removing the stock and pound int eh carrier forward. this can also end up galling the hell out of the upper receiver.

thus why i just leave them out.  the retainer is there so private numbnuts doesn't been himself when he opens the rifle.
