I have a chance to buy a Colt AR 15 HBAR Sporter I I  with an original Colt 22 conversion kit, I believe this was a package Colt offered, and 700 rounds of ammo for $1200. ............Good deal?  Gun is in excellent condition by the way.

700 rounds of .22 or 700 rounds of .223/5.56?

That's a pretty good deal in my opinion, with the high prices of ammo you should go for it if you haven't already did it.

I used to own the government profile barrel version (model R6500) of the SP2 HBAR and mine was a very good rifle, you won't get disappointed.

I sold my SP2 with A1 rear sight to upgrade to the newer R6551 Sporter Target model with the A2 rear sight.

I'm not sure what the model # is but it has A2 sights.

Sounds like a Great deal to me. I'd probably make sure there isn't much lead built up in the barrel from the conversion kit. Don't know if it would hurt anything but accuracy.

Actually the gun probably doesn't have more than a couple hundred rounds of 223 thru it and the guy  has had it for about 18 years and he never fired it. The gun is like new. Well,  I'll just hafta' buy it. Thanks for the nudge. hehe Maybe I can convince the wife that the 24th anniversary is the Black Rifle Anniversary.
